Team Wisconsin Gets Rolling for 2017

Some of the team gathered for a quick group shot before heading out to ride

The season has officially started for Team Wisconsin Cycling! Over 30 riders assembled at Reveres Tavern in Delafield eager to meet old and new teammates. The team has seen a solid growth moving into the 2017 season with over a dozen new riders, bringing the roster to 45 members! It will be very exciting to see what the new riders of the team accomplish this road season; especially since there is a larger presence in both the Masters and Pro/1/2 fields. We have a lot of new younger members making the U25/Pro1/2 squad very fierce, pay close attention to the red kit in the pelotons!

The morning started with the team discussing its plans and goals for the season ahead. From the birth of the team in 1994, a strong emphasis has been placed on advocating cycling in Wisconsin and giving back to the community through charity. In its 23rd year, Team Wisconsin has upped its commitment to its core values to share the sport across all disciplines thanks to the generous support from all of our sponsors: KS Energy Services, Trek Bikes, Midwest Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, Emerys Cycling and Fitness, CLIF Bar & Company, and Country-Financial. In terms of 2017 events, a major focus will be placed on the Whitnall Park Spring Classic, Trek 100 charity ride, Tour of Americas Dairyland, WORS, and several cyclo-cross races, such as two World Cups that will be held in Wisconsin and Iowa this coming up fall.

After a few quick clothing changes we were on the road

After fueling up at Reveres Tavern with an incredible lunch, the weather shined its good graces on the team and allowed for a perfect spring ride. With the team hosting the Whitnall Park Spring Classic only 3 weeks away, the ride was a great opportunity to build comradery and work on the tan lines.

Stay tuned for more news from the team as we get started in 2017!
