Memorial Day Weekend: Burlington Road Race Report

The Men’s Pro/1/2 field kicked off the Memorial Day Weekend of racing with a long out and back road race from Burlington to Grandview, Iowa. The field was active after the field was free of the neutral zone.

A two man move, containing KS Energy’s David Paquette, held a 1 minute advantage for much of the first leg into Grandview. Counter moves came quickly with a 4 rider group eventually making its way clear of the field. With all the big teams represented, there was little organization at the front of the peloton to lead the pursuit.

Bridging attempts were rampant in the closing miles but all were shut down quickly as the field anticipated the sprint. In the end it was Carter, Grant, and Hamilton going 1,2,3 from from the break and Mac Brennan taking the field sprint for 4th.
