In My Own Words

I spend my off-season doing: Giving time back to my family for their sacrifices during race season. I also enjoy hitting the gym to get some shape back to my wimpy cycling physique.
My goals and expectations for 2012 are: Support the masters 1/2/3 road team.
I started racing because: I fell in love with a bike and had to have it. I made up a story about racing it in order to justify the expense. I did one WORS race and was hooked.
My cycling mentors and/or influences are: Tommy Braunies, Lance Armstrong, Jens Voigt, Tommy is an elder cyclist and should look old, but he doesn’t. He taught me that a bike is a fountain of youth, and something we should ride forever. Lance & Jens inspire me to train harder and be tougher.
I consider my finest moment on the bike to be: My son’s first ride with me. My first race victory was right up there.
The one thing I’ve done on a bike that I will never do again: Race my mountain bike in the rain on a course that does not drain well. Pretty much had to replace the bike after that.
When I’m not on my bike, I like to: Build & Repair bikes, play a little golf.
Something you probably don’t know about me is: I was bow legged as a child. My mother had me put into braces like the character in Forest Gump. Like Forest Gump, my legs turned out nice and straight and strong, and seem to be perfect for biking. Thanks Mom!
