Hales Corners, Nov 20th – On a sunny Sunday with temps in the mid-40’s; while the Green Bay Packers were getting ready to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field; the 2011 Wisconsin State Cyclocross Championships were being held at Hales Corners Park.
The course had plenty of technical sections – two off camber turns; two barrier sections; and a sand pit. The course also featured two long straight-ways, which when you’re running 35 PSI in your tires, can make for a challenging day. At stake this day: a state of Wisconsin state champion cycling jersey.
Two state champion jerseys were won for KS Energy/Team Wisconsin. Eric Brandt in the Men’s – Category 4 – 35+ Master’s; and Tom Winkel in the Men’s Category 4 – 45+ Master’s.
Other strong performances by KS Energy/Team Wisconsin riders included:
Men – Masters 35+ Category 4
- Eric Brandt – 1st
- Dave Dineen – 13th
Men – Masters 45+ Category 4
- Tom Winkel – 1st
- Brien Christopherson – 8th
Men – Masters 45+ Category 1/2

A shout out to Alex Martin for getting the big W, and a state championship jersey in what was a large cat 3 field. Although Alex isn’t riding for KS Energy/Team Wisconsin this year, he’ll be joining our team in 2012.
