With the Wisconsin Cycling Association State Championship 2 weeks ago and the Midwest Regional Championship this past weekend, the Wisconsin cyclocross season is nearly finished with only nationals on the horizon. So there is no better time to look back on an incredibly successful season for the KS Energy Services/Team Wisconsin CX crew.
Relatively quiet on the teams social media account, but still crushing it was Erica Scott who raced a full season down in the Chicago Cross Cup series as a Cat 4. Compared to Wisconsin, the Cat 4 Women’s field in the Chicago area is massive and challenging. Erica raced in 10 of the 12 series races consistently placing in the top 10 and finishing off with a 7th place overall series finish! Congratulations to Erica on a successful season on the dirt and in the cold.
On the masters side of things, Red Jersey’s we all over the front of the peleton. In addition to consistently racing at the front all season long, the masters guys dominated the state and overall series standings. Masters 3 45+ saw Tedd Jacobson taking the overall series title despite broken ribs, tough guy there, but he’ll enjoy some time off. Dave Dineen placed 4th overall and took 6th place at state champs. He was just beat out by Tom Winkle who finished 5th at state champs. Tom finished just behind Dave in the overall with a 6th place. Timm Jacobson placed 9th overall for the series.
Masters 3 35+ saw some more dominating performances. Al Kruger took both the win at state champs and the overall series title. This included a second place finish in the entire masters 1/2/3 wave, to teammate Tyson. Eric Brandt was close behind Al in the overall standings finishing 2nd. In the masters 1/2 45+, Dave Eckel took both 3rd at the state champs and 3rd in the overall series standings. And in the 35+, the overwhelming force to be reckoned with was Tyson Hausdoeffer. He took the overall series title with a huge margin and won the state title. This was well-deserved from all the hard work put in over the season. Towards to later parts of the season, Tyson began racing with the elites and still had high finishes.
Moving on to the elite ranks. Ben Stengel picked up a new Trek Crockett and immediately started placing well in the elite cat 4 races. He finished 4th at the state champs. We had both Harrison and Freddy upgrade to Cat 3 and by the end of the season were racing at the front. Freddy finished 4th at state champs from the front group. Harrison was riding with Freddy until some back issues took him out of the race.
In the Pro/1/2 races, Mark Norton had a handful of top 3 places throughout the season and finished up in 4th for the season. Joseph Maloney Finished 5th place overall in the series including 3 race wins along with 2 podium finishes. Alex Martin hit the overall podium with a third place series finish and that came by way of multiple podium finishes, and consistent top 10 finishes including a 6th place finish at the state champs. Bryan Fosler finished 9th overall in the series after cutting his season shorter.
Congratulations to everyone on an Amazing season of Local WCA racing!
