Melon City Cat 3 Race Report

This by far was the best day of weather during the MMD weekend. It was sunny and warm, but not scalding hot. The mile-long course contained a long hill leading to a chicane just before the finish line. The back side of the course had a long sweeping downhill that ended with a speed bump. The speed-sucking jump in the valley of the hills was a unique feature to this course and presented an excellent opportunity for riders to show off their handling skills.

“There were many good attacks during the race, but the wind was strong and the race was fast. During the second half, a local racer managed to TT his way off the front and hold out for the finish. Though the group made attempts to work him back, the team organization and legs simply weren’t there on this grueling course. However, in the remaining laps, we managed to catch our breaths and represent on the podium, with Kelby Shaw dominating the field sprint for 2nd place.
