Red Train Takes 2012 Campaign Into ‘Cross Season

Fresh off success in the WCA road season, KS Energy Services storms ‘cross scene

Less than 24 hours before several KS Energy Services/Team Wisconsin members received individual awards for their road cycling success, KS took the top step at a Cambridge ‘cross race, Nov. 10.

Joseph Maloney, won the Pro 1/2 mens race at the Cam-Rock CX Classic as part of the Wisconsin Cycling Association (WCA) cyclocross season. Mark Norton took fourth in the race.

This was not the first taste of victory in the 2012 cross campaign, Alex Martin won the previous week, in addition to scores of podium finishes and wins at the lower categories, including two wins from Marc Ano in the WCA Category 3 level.

WCA Road Season

The weekend of Nov. 10 was a grand time for KS Energy Services/Team Wisconsin. Following success on the ‘cross battlefield Saturday, Nov. 10, Sunday followed with the recognition of Alex Martin as the Wisconsin Cycling Association (WCA) Category 3 mens road racing champion at the WCA road racing awards banquet at the Majestic theater in Brookfield.

KS Energy Services/Team Wisconsin also enjoyed strong results at the 2012 Tour of America’s Dairyland.

The team put two riders on the podium of their racing classes in the 11-day tour, June 21 to July 1, held throughout southern and eastern Wisconsin.

Bryan Fosler Toad CAT 2

Bryan Fosler, one of the team’s leaders on the category 2 squad took second in the Category 2/3 race, while Al Krueger, a new addition to KS in 2012, took second place in the Master’s 3/4 field.

Trek Toward Nationals

Team Wisconsin isn’t through with 2012. The team has plans for success in multiple categories to finish out the WCA cyclocross season, as well as the regional and national ‘cross championships in January in Verona. Next weekend 10 riders from the team will be headed to Iowa City for the annual Jingle Cross Rock.

The WCA season continues with two more races Nov. 18 in Hales Corners and the State Regional Championships on Dec. 8 in Madison.
