ToAD Stage 6: Sheboygan

It was a bit of a sleepy day for the City of Sheboygan at the Harbor Centre Family Day & Bike Race. The crowds weren’t out in force and the overall mood seemed somber. That is until the gun went off for the start of Dairyland’s Stage 6 Pro/1/2 race. The crit specialists who didn’t fair as well in yesterday’s road race were eager to regain any lost points, overall placings and morale. Kenda Pro Cycling was especially anxious as they saw the yellow jersey slip off there shoulders and transferred to the Verizon U25 team.

Primes were small and scarce but that didn’t lull the attacks from flying constantly. Team Wisconsin-MC2 was active at the front of the field following wheels into multiple breaks but the right combination of riders was never there and the field brought them back. Eventually slipping off the front, with about a dozen laps to go, was a 4-man break of Mike Northey (Rubicon Orbea), Aurelien Passeron (Garneau Chaussures Cycling Team), Neil Bezdek (Team Mountain Khakis pb Jittery Joe’s) and James Stemper (Kenda Pro Cycling-GEARGRINDER). The move stuck to the finish and it was Mike Northey taking the win from the break and Rashaan Bahati taking the field sprint.

Day’s Results:
1. NORTHEY, MIKE – Rubicon Orbea
2. STEMPER, JAMES – Kenda Pro Cycling ob Geargrinder
3. PASSERON, AURELIEM – Garneau Chaussures Cycling Team

Overall:
1. STEMPER, JAMES – Kenda Pro Cycling ob Geargrinder
2. HARTLEY, CHAD – Kenda Pro Cycling ob Geargrinder
3. SHERER, MIKE – Verizon U25 pb ABD
