KS raises $24,000 in the fight against childhood cancer

Trek 100 Start 2013

This past weekend marked the 24th annual Trek 100, a massive fundraiser put on by the MACC Fund along with Trek Bikes. The ride aims to raise money for the MACC Fund to help fight and find a cure for childhood cancer. To say that it has been effective is an understatement as over the past 24 years over 11 million dollars has been raised towards the cause.

Team Wisconsin has made the commitment to participate in the Trek 100 on a team level for the past 3 years and each year has committed to raising at least $2 for each mile ridden. And for the 3rd year in a row, the team has surpassed this goal by a huge margin. This past year the team raised over $24,000 thanks in part to the generosity of all the teams family and friends.

But at its heart, the Trek 100 is still a bike ride! And ride bikes we did. The team had massive presences in every capacity of the ride. From hammer heads at the front to those enjoying the day and even those completing their first century ride, the rolling terrain of south central Wisconsin was painted in the red and white of Team Wisconsin. At the end of the day the ride ends at Trek headquarters in Waterloo, WI with festivities including food and drink. It serves as a great social gathering for the team as everyone sits down for a bite to eat and to share stories from the day.

See you there next year!
