Wheel & Sprocket
KS Energy took to the Wheel & Sprocket Criterium with an elite team of one; David Paquette. The course was fast with only one real corner but strong head and cross winds made it tough. With 40min to go, Paquette made a move and bridged up to Wheel and Sprocket’s own Kevin Berger.
With a full W&S team in the field, the two were able to work well together to stay away. Paquette edged out Berger at the line for the win. Just past the line Paquette concluded his statement on the race by pointing to the Emery’s logo on his chest.
Wheels on Willy
Wheels on Willy has become somewhat of a spring classic in midwest cycling. The race attracts some of the largest fields and rowdiest crowds of the early season. This year was no exception. KS took to the line with a full squad: Brian Fosler, Ross White, Mark Norton, Nick Frye, David Paquette, John Reynders and Alex Martin.
Strong winds and threats of a violent thunderstorm an hour before the field was to go off forced officials to delay and subsequently shorten the race to just 45 minutes. Pain cave here we come.
The team worked well together from the start to keep the race in check. With all teams pulling from the same play book, no breaks of any real threat were allowed to gain more than a few seconds before being brought back. The rains prior to the race made for some slick spots on the road and a few riders did go down, including KS rider John Reynders. John walked away in one piece with no major injuries sustained.
In the finishing laps, we caught a glimpse of the red train pulling through the stock yard with Brian Fosler in tow. The season is still young, but the engine is looking primed for a good showing. With a little bit better timing, this KS squad will be delivering victory in the very near future.
